Port Akdeniz has a main breakwater 1,440 meters long and a secondary breakwater 650 meters long. The distance between the two is 250 meters. The depth in the approach channels is -10 meters. The harbor’s total usable sea area is 136,000 m². The maximum turning radius is 300 meters.
With 1,322 meters in dockside, depths between 6 and 10 meters, and fully-operational equipment consisting of 10 mobile cranes (lifting capacities 5-100 tons), 17 forklifts (carrying capacities 3-33 tons), 4 stackers (carrying capacities 45 tons), 1 side lifter (capacity 8 tons), 4 mini-loaders, 2 loaders and others, Port Akdeniz is in a position to meet the needs of all existing types of conventional cargoes and containers.
Port Akdeniz is engaged in a non-stop effort to increase its existing container capacity, which is currently 400,000 TEU/year. The objectives of the investments presently being made in equipment are to reduce the layover times of vessels in the port and to make it possible for loading and unloading services to be provided with even greater speed and reliability.
The piloting and towing services whose provision is mandatory under the Port Operations Regulations are provided at Port Akdeniz by four tugs, one pilot boat, and one mooring boat, all of which are under the control of well-trained, experienced, and licensed pilots.
There is also one security boat continuously on duty at the harbor to ensure compliance with the approved International Port Security Plan (ISPS).
Port Akdeniz conducts all of its activities within the framework of certified quality management systems and a sense of environmental awareness. Modern efficient service is provided by 116 full-time personnel in the fully protected and sheltered customs area.
